The Dance Initiative’s “Chance To Dance” wants to give everyone in our community the opportunity to be exposed to the art form of dance and quality dance instruction, regardless of financial resources.  The ultimate goal for CHANCE TO DANCE is to identify young dancers in the community who would benefit from scholarships that would enable them to pursue more formal dance training. THE DANCE INITIATIVE believes that Tuscaloosa has untapped cultural potential and exposure to the art of dance in all its forms is a movement that will greatly enrich our community.

“Chance To Dance” held its first two sessions at the new Faucett Brothers P.A.R.A. facility in Northport and the Rock Quarry Elementary Extended Day Program in Tuscaloosa.  Morgan Williams, along with Novien Yarber and several Dance Initiative dancers, taught some fun-filled hip hop workshops that left students smiling and feeling excited about dance!  On December 11, 2014, we were excited to be guests at the Benjamin Barnes YMCA facility to host the first annual “CHRISTMAS JAM”.  Teachers and Dancers representing The Dance Initiative spent the afternoon dancing with the students in the after school program putting together a fun-filled Christmas dance for parents to see.  We feel as though this is just the beginning of our efforts of outreach into the community as we seek to expose all children to this invaluable experience.
